Celebrating Legacy: Bentley Honors Martin Luther King Jr.

Bentley University held its 39th annual MLK Breakfast on January 28, 2025, commemorating the life and enduring impact of Martin Luther King, Jr. A special annual tradition since the mid 1980s, the Bentley community comes together for an enriching day of learning, inspiration, and innovation. For the second straight year, Bentley canceled classes and meetings to maximize participation from its community: students, faculty, staff, alumni, and local families. Each year the event carries a different theme, and this year’s theme was “Action for Justice.”

To kick off the event this year, representatives from the Bentley community read a powerful excerpt from King’s 1964 Nobel Peace Prize acceptance speech. Featured in the video in order of appearance: Lebone Moses, ‘02, Founder & CEO of Chisara Ventures Inc., Otis Johnson, Assistant Director, Residential Center, Tzarina Prater, PhD, Associate Professor and Chair, English and Media Studies, Carlos Camacho, Officer, Bentley University Police, Nicole Black, Director, Graduate Academic Advising, Andy Aylesworth, PhD, Professor, Marketing, and Isabel Zica, ‘25, Bentley University undergraduate student. The group visited “The Embrace” statue located in the Boston Common public park, which is dedicated to lives and legacies of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and Corretta Scott King.
